In our last post, we wrote about Melissa and Jeremy. Melissa told police that Jeremy grabbed her and forced his hands down her pants, and that he later forced her into the back of his SUV and touched her genitals repeatedly.
Jeremy denied the sexual assault allegations and offered his own version of the story to the police. He told police that nothing happened between the two at Culver's. However, when Jeremy was leaving, Melissa followed his SUV to a secluded section of a movie theater parking lot. There, the two had consensual sex in Jeremy's SUV. It's unclear where their child was during that incident.
Police reviewed video surveillance from the theater's parking lot. The video showed Melissa's car following Jeremy's SUV into a secluded corner of the lot. Both vehicles remained there for a period of time before leaving at the same time.
When Melissa learned about the tapes, she rescinded her allegations and admitted to having consensual sex with Jeremy in his SUV. It is unclear why she lied in the first place, but Melissa will face consequences for her actions. She is facing misdemeanor charges for obstructing an officer, and she could spend nine months in prison and pay fines up to $10,000 if she is convicted.
Although Melissa is appropriately facing charges, it is impossible to redact the negative press Jeremy has already received. We've written several posts about men who are wrongly accused of sexual assault. Sadly, even after their criminal records are cleared, their lives are usually permanently tainted.
