When you are watching the news or reading the newspaper, it is likely because you want up-to-date news. You wouldn't read last week's newspaper looking for current events. It's common for news to change constantly, and good media outlets provide regular updates on relevant news stories.

Although we appreciate getting prompt news stories, it also means that the first versions of the news stories we read are often incomplete. A person in San Antonio who is wrongly accused of sexual assault can face reputation-ruining or career-ending ramifications when the media reports those allegations.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened to one man recently. Although the man was never convicted, news sources jumped on the story as soon as the accusations were made and he was arrested.

Melissa met Jeremy in the parking lot of Culver's. The two are not married, but they have a child together, and they were meeting to exchange their child. Melissa told police that when she was reaching into Jeremy's SUV with the child, Jeremy grabbed her and stuck his hands down her pants.

The two met again later that day to exchange the child again. When Melissa arrived at Culver's, Jeremy was already parked. She told police that Jeremy said he had a Christmas present in his trunk that he wanted to show her. She claimed that when she was looking in the back of his SUV, he pushed her in and shut the door. She also told police that he grabbed her and touched her genitals repeatedly.

It is unclear what happened next in Melissa's version of the story. However, Jeremy was arrested on allegations of sexual assault.

Read more in our next post to learn how well Melissa's story held up and what happened when the police started asking questions.
